Welcome to the 2020 vegan cheese awards where we celebrate the best vegan and plant-based cheeses in a number of categories that were available to purchase within 2020.
In addition to offering fantastic tasting products, Plant Perks sets an example of how to do business and have minimal effects on the environment and animals lives,” says Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, Mindful Awards. “From top to bottom this company represents values we want to recognize and honor. We congratulate Plant Perks for winning our ‘Cheese Product of the Year’ award!
FoodBev Media Marketing Manager, Matthew Rushton, said: “After witnessing the quality of entries in our first year hosting the World Plant-Based Awards, it is clear that innovation in this sector is booming. To see over 200 entries from around the world also confirms what we predicted, that not only is the plant-based market a truly international one, it is one that will continue to grow. Our awards celebrate some of the most ambitious new plant-based products of 2020 from both established brands and start-ups.
The NEXTY Awards are a twice-annual awards program connected to New Hope Network’s Natural Products Expo shows in March and September. They were created to recognize the pinnacle of excellence in the natural products industry, elevating impactful brands and products that inspire a healthy, sustainable future for people and planet while also having proven consumer approval.
Winners are determined during a two-tier judging process involving New Hope Network content experts and industry judges. During the first phase, more than 1,000 entries were whittled down to 76 finalists in 22 categories.
Spotted at the Harvest Festival, Plant Perks’ Plant-Based Cheeze Spreads are cashew-based with organic medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil, marketed as dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, as well as keto and Paleo. Both the range and the excellent execution of the brand’s flavors impressed us: from Dill Havarti with organic apple cider vinegar, to Smoked Provolone with organic chickpea miso, and everything in between (Garlic & Herb, Smoked Gouda, and Sriracha Cheddar).
I discovered this organic plant-based cheese from Plant Perks at the Expo East Harvest Festival, the afternoon event the day before the trade show floor opens.
It only took one bite of the smoked gouda spreadable cheese to know that this was going to be in my top 5. The other sign of how much I liked it was that I kept eating sample after sample, clearly not shy of embarrassing myself.
Excellent smoky flavor, fantastic texture. One of the best plant-based cheeses I have had.
Made with organic cashews, MCT oil, Worcestershire sauce, filtered water, nutritional yeast, onion powder, cultures and sea salt, Plant Perks is available nationwide but mostly in the Pacific Northwest.
