It’s a bummer, but true. Traditional door-to-door trick or treating probably isn’t happening for most of us this year. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little bit of fun this Halloween. Whether you’re planning to dress up in costume and walk your dog around the neighborhood or stay inside and watch scary movies, you’ll need some snacks to keep the festivities going late into the night. Why not make this Vegan Halloween Snack Board?!

You might notice a critical component missing from this Vegan Halloween Snack Board. Candy! While there are many vegan candies out there, I wanted to keep this snack board healthy. If you want to enjoy a handful of Jolly Ranchers or Now and Laters on the side, go for it! PETA has a good list of surprisingly vegan candy they regularly update on their website. To start making this board, you’ll first want to make the mandarin orange pumpkins. How adorable are these little guys?

Then you’ll scoop your dips into bowls. I used a package of our Garlic & Herb Cheeze Spread and some guacamole. You know, because it sort of looks like slime? I think you can see where I’m going with this. I picked up some goldenberries from the grocery store, which are sweet and tangy and super delicious. If you can’t find them, swap them out for blackberries or your favorite fruit.

Next, add clusters of grapes to the board. I like snipping the grapes into small clusters so they’re easy to grab without disturbing the surrounding components.

Petite carrots are great dippers for both guacamole and the Garlic & Herb Cheeze Spread

Finally, add some pita crackers, tortilla chips, and popcorn to the board. They’re perfect for dipping or just plain crunching.

Serves 4

Instructions

  • 7 mandarin oranges
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 1 package Plant Perks Garlic & Herb Cheeze Spread
  • 1 12-ounce container of guacamole, or homemade guac
  • 1 6-ounce package of goldenberries (a.k.a. cape gooseberries)
  • 1 mini pumpkin
  • 8 ounces of red seedless grapes
  • 8 ounces petite carrots
  • Big handful of pita crackers
  • Big handful of tortilla chips
  • 2 cups of popcorn

Instructions

  1. First, make the mandarin orange pumpkins. Peel the mandarin oranges and discard the skins. Slice the celery stalk into thin pieces about 1 inch long. Stick one end of each celery piece into the top of each mandarin orange.
  2. Scoop the Garlic & Herb Cheeze Spread and guacamole into bowls of similar size. Transfer the goldenberries to another small bowl and set all three bowls on your serving board along with a mini pumpkin.
  3. Place the mandarin orange pumpkins in two clusters on the board, one by the mini pumpkin and one by the guacamole.
  4. Use scissors to snip the grapes into small clusters and set them in three places on the board.
  5. Arrange the petite carrots in the lower right corner of the serving board with the tips pointing inward.
  6. Place the pita crackers near the Garlic & Herb Cheeze Spread and the tortilla chips near the guacamole. Fill in any gaps on the board with piles of popcorn. Enjoy!
